MEET THE FOUNDER

My name is Dave Olney, and I am a career firefighter, volunteer fire captain, hazmat specialist, materials engineer, and maker.

Throughout my career, I’ve spent countless hours on fire apparatus, in fire stations, on emergency scenes, and in training environments. Like many firefighters, I’ve often looked at the equipment we use and thought, “There has to be a better way”.

What started as a hobby designing and building custom solutions for myself and fellow firefighters has grown into Emergent 3D - a fabrication company dedicated to creating practical, high-quality products for first responders.

BUILT ON REAL WORLD EXPERIENCE

Every product we create begins with a real problem.

Whether it’s a mask retention kit that keeps an SCBA mask secure, a custom flashlight bezel that make identifying equipment easier, a locker nameplate that improves station organization and morale, or a department award that recognizes years of service and dedication, our products are designed with purpose.

We don’t create products simply because we can manufacture them. We create products because they solve real problems, improve organization, increase durability, or help departments recognize the people who serve their communities.

ENGINEERING MEETS THE FIRE SERVICE

In addition to my fire service experiences, I hold an undergraduate degree in Chemical Engineering and a Master’s degree in Materials Science and Engineering from the Rochester Institute of Technology.

That engineering background allows Emergent 3D to go beyond traditional engraving or customization services. Using modern tools such as 3D scanning, CAD design, additive manufacturing, laser fabrication and other prototyping tools, we can develop solutions that would have been difficult or cost-prohibitive just a few years ago.

From simple nameplates to custom apparatus components, every project benefits from a practical engineering approach focused on function, durability, and manufacturability.
